Built in 1880 along with all the palazzi in the square to house Piedmont civil servants in the new kingdom of Italy, the Hotel Napoleon overlooks Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, one of Rome’s largest with its famous Magic Gate surrounded by cabbalistic signs which legend states features the formula for manufacturing gold.
